NOTICE!  Thursday., March 1, 2012  M/H School Cafeteria 5:30 pm  NECAP EDUCATIONAL SESSION - NECAP scores for Times2 Academy will be discussed.

Parents are a central part of TIMES² Academy. Without support from and the active engagement of parents, we could not educate TIMES² Academy students as well as we do.

Parental involvement is a serious sharing of responsibility for each child’s learning and development.  We believe that parents are a child’s most important teachers and understand that each child’s education relies on a committed support network of adults who work together to help students achieve their potential.  All TIMES² Academy parents must commit to being involved in their child’s education upon acceptance into the school.

TIMES² Academy institutes a Compact for Learning, a contract between a student, parent and TIMES² Academy as a commitment to each child's education.  The Compact for Learning is signed by all three parties at the beginning of each year to signify everyone's dedication to making TIMES² Academy students a top priority.  Below are the commitments to which we hold our constituency.

Student Commitment

I realize that my education is important and that I am responsible for my own success. Therefore, I agree to do the following as best I can.

I Will:

· Get to school on time every day.

· Actively participate in class and school activities.

· Learn how to ask for help when I need it.

· Show respect to and cooperate with other students and adults.

· Treat other people the way that I want to be treated.

· Be prepared each day with the tools and supplies I need for learning.

· Help to create and follow the classroom and school rules to keep myself and others safe.

· Return completed homework on time.

· Learn how to take charge of my own learning.

· Read in and out of school.

· Work with my advisor  to be organized.

· Carry and use my student planner every day to stay organized and plan for the future.

· Work towards achieving or exceeding proficiency on RI Standards (GLE/GSEs).

· Be proactive with everything I do.

Parental Commitment

I want my child to achieve success. I pledge to join TIMES2 Academy Charter School in creating a partnership that supports learning,

I Will:

· Send my child to school on time and well-rested every day.

· Take time to listen to and encourage my child to share about school.

· Be positive and pay attention to my child’s accomplishments.

· Notice both improvements and efforts by my child and praise them.

· Demonstrate commitment to my child’s education and to the portfolio system.

· Communicate and work with teachers and school staff to help my child succeed.

· Support the school in their approach to discipline.

· Actively be involved in my child’s education, including making every effort to participate in parent/teacher conferences and family events when possible.

· Monitor schoolwork and encourage homework completion by signing my student’s homework planner.

· Learn what is being taught, what is expected of my child, and become familiar with RI’s standards.

· Communicate with the school about concerns or things that I feel are particularly successful.
