Requirements or Eligibility.

Times2 STEM Academy is a charter public school, open to any student in grades kindergarten through 12 living in Providence, Rhode Island. By RI law and regulations from the RI Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, students are admitted by lottery.

For kindergarten, the lottery determines the students for the upcoming school year. For grades 1-12, it determines the wait list pool for the upcoming year. In order to participate in the lottery, an application must be completed online (when available) or completed and returned to the front office.

  • Students must be a resident of Providence.
  • Students must be 5 years old on or before September 1 to enter Kindergarten.
  • Sibling Applicant: Birth Certificate of applicant and student who is presently enrolled at the school.

2018-2019 Admission Timeline

November 1st – Applications become available online or at the school
December 5th – Enrollment Open House 5:00pm – 7:00pm / All families who are interested in touring the school, learning about our academic program, meeting faculty and staff are invited.
February 16th – Application Deadline
March 1st – K-12th grade Lottery at 10:00 am - open to the public

Acceptance Process

Once a family has been accepted to TIMES2 STEM Academy, we will send acceptance letter and required admissions forms will be mailed to students immediately following the lottery. Families are required to return completed forms and documentation within 15 days to confirm acceptance.

Along with completed form, families need to submit: a copy of birth certificate, current utility bill (dated within 30 days), school record and special education records such as IEP or 504 documentation. If families do not provide the required documentation within this time, the space may be given to ne next eligible student on the waiting list.

Sibling Preference Policy

TMES2 STEM Academy holds 25% of our available seats for siblings. Siblings are defined as one of two individuals having one common parent. In addition, two children who share a common guardian may also be considered siblings.

Waiting List

Students who apply to the school are not successful in gaining enrolment through the lottery are placed on a wait list in the order in which they were drawn during the lottery. Any family that is on the waitlist when the new enrollment year begins is encouraged to reapply. A new lottery is conducted on a yearly basis; it is not carried over from year to year.
