TIMES2 STEM Academy Admissions Lottery Receives 2,270 Applications for 48 School Openings

March 1st, 2019 (Providence, Rhode Island) - TIMES2 STEM Academy conducted its annual admissions lottery for the 2019-2020 academic year on Friday, March 1st, 2019. Since 2015, the number of student applicants for the K-12 public charter school has increased from approximately 1,500 to 2,270 applicants. TIMES2 STEM Academy accepts admissions applications from November through February for the following academic year. The application process for the 2019-2020 academic year ran from November 1, 2018 through February 17, 2019.

TIMES2 STEM Academy is a charter public school, open to any student in grades kindergarten through 12 living in Providence, Rhode Island. Per Rhode Island law and regulations established by the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, students are admitted by lottery.

For kindergarten, the lottery determines the students for the upcoming school year. For grades 1 through 12, the lottery determines the wait list pool for the upcoming academic year. In order to participate in the lottery, an application must be completed online or returned to TIMES2 STEM Academy’s administrative office. Students must also be 5 years old as of September 1st to enter Kindergarten. Parents of sibling applicants must provide birth certificates of the applicant and the sibling who is presently enrolled at the school.
