Times² (Times squared ) STEM Academy is a K-12 accredited charter public school committed to improve mathematics, engineering and science studies for urban youth in Providence, Rhode Island. Times² STEM Academy prepares America’s next scientists, engineers and leaders by providing a rigorous academic program aligned with the state's requirements. The faculty and staff provide hands on learning experiences with a strong academic emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) principles, augmented by an innovative In-Field Learning Experience program that enables students to observe STEM based endeavors in the real world.

Instructional Dean of Elementary Division
Edna Michelle Attias has been a public school educator for the past 14 years in a charter urban setting. She is passionate about closing the achievement gap in America through providing students with opportunities to access rigorous education, and supporting teachers in perfecting their practices and pedagogy. Previous to becoming a teacher, she studied the complexity of the brain and how various drugs interacted with neurotransmitters and impacted addictive behaviors and pain relief.
Ms. Attias obtained her bachelor degree in Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, and a Masters of Science in Psychology from Brown University. In 2005 Ms. Attias attained a Masters degree in elementary education at Brown University, and in 2014 she became certified as a national facilitator for Origins. In this capacity, she travels around the United States and trains teachers and administrators on incorporating social-emotional philosophy with their everyday teaching.
Currently, Ms. Attias is finishing up her doctorate degree at Northeastern University in Educational Leadership. Her concentration is in curriculum, teaching, and learning, and the topic of her dissertation is “The Intersection between Beliefs of Social-Emotional Learning and Constructivist Pedagogical Decision-Making: A Case Study”. She is also writing a book on teaching students how to reason through writing analytical essays. Ms. Attias came to Times 2 STEM Academy with rich experiences such as teaching and curriculum support specialist, science department chair, teacher leader for GEMS-Net, coach, professional development trainer, and a director of the multicultural student union.
